CAC Chapter Meeting

Welcome:

 

Teresa Tidwell CAP welcomed visitors and members to our monthly meeting. LaTanya Blair, a DMAL member has recently moved to central Arkansas from Texarkana.

 

Door Prize Drawing:

 

Grace Coots won the on-time door prize, a copy of Finding Your Yellow Brick Road by Mark Thomas (February’s guest speaker).

 

New Business:

 

  • Donna Lewis CPS/CAP shared the treasurer’s report with the chapter.
  • Teresa updated members on the status of our mini retreat for Administrative Professionals Week. It will be held at the Holiday Inn North on Tuesday, April 21. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the program begins at 10:30. We will view a webinar provided by SkillSoft and IAAP.
  • Teresa updated members about the nomination process, which will be occurring the early part of April. Wanda Butler is handling the nomination/election this year.

 

Guest Speaker:

 

Donna Chapman introduced today’s guest speaker, Todd Newton. Todd spoke to us on Identity Theft and gave us statistical information about identity theft as well as advice on protecting ourselves. ID theft is a fraud committed or attempted using the identity information of another person without authorization. It is happening every day to everyone, everywhere! Data breaches are very costly to businesses; it costs approx. $182 per record to do all the notification, paperwork, etc.

  • 1 in 13 people will experience some form of ID theft this year
  • Everyone should get a copy of their credit report annually

 


Announcements/Discussions:

 

  • Tip of the Day – Teresa asked for a volunteer to share a tip with the group. Anita Rowe shared about her recent registration with National Training Seminars and the membership benefits she has gained through the *12 program.
  • Trish Jenkins has set up a Facebook page for CAC IAAP.
  • Next board/leadership team meeting will be Wednesday, April 1, from 11:00-12:30 p.m.
  • Next chapter meeting will be the APW event on Tuesday, April 21, from 10:30-3:30 p.m.
